FAW-Volkswagen’s Jetta brand has released official images of the M6, its first battery-electric saloon, giving the production-bound car a fuller showing after earlier public appearances in June and July.
The Aug 3 posts on Jetta’s official Weibo account showed the M6 in a new Eastern Purple finish. Jetta links the exterior to a bamboo-inspired design theme, referring to natural lines and “bamboo rhythm” in its captions.
The company has not yet published cabin images, battery capacity, charging times, range or pricing.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology filing fills in the numbers. The M6 measures 4,806mm long, 1,868mm or 1,895mm wide and 1,500mm tall, with a 2,820mm wheelbase. It seats five and will be offered with 17- or 18-inch wheels.
Four front-wheel-drive versions were listed. Two use a 113kW electric motor and have a claimed top speed of 166kph. The more powerful pair produce 145kW and reach 172kph. Kerb weight is listed at either 1,557kg or 1,628kg, depending on specification.
Battery cells are supplied by CALB, while FAW-Volkswagen assembles the battery pack. The drive motor comes from CRRC Times Electric.
Optional equipment in the filing included a panoramic glass roof, front and wing-mounted cameras, different mirrors and window trim, plus an electronic toll collection unit.
The latest images are not the M6’s first public appearance. Jetta showed the car at a FAW-Volkswagen event on June 3 and later promoted a July 10-12 display in Changsha.
The M6 will be Jetta’s first step into battery-electric cars. Volkswagen Group said at Auto China 2026 that the China-focused sub-brand would introduce four new-energy vehicles by 2028, with the first due to reach the market this year.
Volkswagen positions the electrified Jetta range in China’s entry-level new-energy vehicle segment.
A launch date, price and full technical specification remain unconfirmed. The official material did not state any export plans.
