Volt Auto Malaysia plans to introduce the Voyah Dream 9 here in the first quarter of 2027, bringing both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid versions of the flagship MPV to Malaysia.
Local assembly is also planned, although the first Malaysian cars will arrive fully built. Volt Auto has yet to disclose when CKD production will start.
Voyah, Dongfeng Motor’s premium new-energy vehicle brand, is meanwhile set to establish a Malaysian retail network separate from Dongfeng.
Official Dongfeng information confirms that the seven-seat Dream 9 measures 5,325mm long and has a 3,200mm wheelbase. Both powertrain versions use an 800V electrical architecture and CATL batteries.
China pre-sales began on Sept 5 with five configurations covering BEV and PHEV powertrains. The PHEV uses a 65kWh battery and supports 5C charging, with Dongfeng claiming a 20-80% charge in 12 minutes. The BEV gets a much larger 120kWh battery.
The Dream 9 also brings Huawei technology into the cabin and driver-assistance package. Dongfeng says it uses Huawei Qiankun ADS 5, backed by 37 sensors including an 896-line lidar unit and three solid-state lidar sensors. Huawei’s HarmonySpace 6 infotainment system is also fitted.
Its chassis combines three-chamber air suspension with electronically controlled variable dampers, while rear-wheel steering is intended to improve manoeuvrability for the large MPV.
An earlier Voyah Dream was previewed at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show in June, giving Malaysian buyers an early look at the brand’s luxury MPV offering.
Malaysia-specific specifications, variants and pricing have not been announced. Volt Auto has also yet to disclose where the Dream 9 will be assembled locally.
