The Road Transport Department (JPJ) collected RM91.21 million from bidding for its special H-series vehicle registration numbers, with H 1 drawing the highest bid at RM10.78 million.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the total comprised RM89.27 million from successful bids and RM1.94 million in service fees through the JPJeBid system.
The bidding exercise ran from Sept 16 to 20 in conjunction with Malaysia Day, attracting 34,664 bidders. A total of 8,223 registration numbers were successfully bid for.
After H 1, the next highest bids were RM4.97 million for H 9, RM4.21 million for H 3, RM4.01 million for H 5, RM4 million for H 8 and RM3.38 million for H 6.
H 1001 and H 100 attracted the most competition, with 37 bidders each. H 1805 drew 36 bidders, while H 1777 and H 4818 each received 32.
Loke said revenue from the exercise would be channelled back through Transport Ministry and JPJ programmes, including road safety initiatives.
JPJ had earlier said the H series, comprising numbers H 1 to H 9999, was introduced to mark Malaysia Day, with the letter representing “Harmoni”.
The department also said it would be the final special registration series offered by JPJ using a single-letter prefix.
