Yinson GreenTech launched its chargEV 2.0 app last month, more than three weeks after opening a 32-bay charging hub at Menara Merdeka Maybank in Kuala Lumpur.
The chargEV 2.0 app brings one-click charging, AutoCharge, a revised station map and live charger information. Journey planning has also been updated.
Yinson GreenTech said the app was rebuilt using data from more than one million charging sessions recorded since it acquired chargEV in 2022.
Earlier in July, the company and PNB Merdeka Ventures opened the charging hub at the tower then known as Menara Merdeka 118.
The building has since been renamed Menara Merdeka Maybank.
The site has 32 bays, each fitted with a 22 kW alternating-current charger. Yinson GreenTech calls it Malaysia’s largest AC charging hub.
The chargers are intended for drivers who will be parked for some time, particularly office workers, tenants and visitors.
Yinson GreenTech also said faster direct-current chargers were planned for the adjoining 118 Mall, which is scheduled to open this month.
The company is also adding chargers at selected AEON malls and in Gemas, Raub, Teluk Intan and Kuala Kangsar. More fast-charging sites are planned along major highways.
chargEV users can also access compatible chargers operated by other networks through roaming arrangements, including participating chargers outside Malaysia.
