Look who’s back at Proton.
Proton Holdings Bhd has appointed Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa as deputy chief executive officer, effective Nov 1, reporting to CEO Dr Li Chunrong.
A veteran of more than 30 years in Malaysia’s auto industry, Abdul Rashid previously served as chief technical officer before leading Proton Edar, where he oversaw milestones including the 2018 launch of the Proton X70.
He later held senior roles at UMW Holdings, covering aerospace as well as mobility and sustainability initiatives.
His return follows a period of leadership transition.
Roslan Abdullah, Proton’s deputy CEO from 2022, stepped down in May 2025 and joined Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia as chief operating officer the following month.
Ainol Azmil was named covering deputy CEO from 10 June to 31 October 2025, providing continuity before Abdul Rashid’s appointment.
“Proton is delighted to welcome back Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa. His wealth of experience and insight into the Malaysian automotive industry and his familiarity with our operations will play a key role in supporting our transformation and advancing the company’s growth,” said Li.
With Abdul Rashid in post, Ainol Azmil resumes his duties as vice president, corporate strategy, and continues to oversee group technical procurement as senior director.
