Volkswagen’s partnership with Chinese EV maker XPeng has produced its second jointly developed model, the ID. UNYX 09 electric fastback, which went on sale in China on Oct 24.
The new sedan follows the ID. UNYX 08 SUV and combines Volkswagen’s vehicle engineering with XPeng’s digital and driver assistance technologies.
Among its features is a Vision-Language-Action (VLA) driver assistance system powered by XPeng’s Turing AI chip, offering 750 TOPS of computing power.
The system supports assisted driving on city roads and highways, along with remote parking and reversing assistance. An 85-inch augmented-reality head-up display is also standard.
Measuring 5,081mm long with a 3,030mm wheelbase, the ID. UNYX 09 comes in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.
The rear-drive models have a 230kW motor and a claimed CLTC range of 755km. The dual-motor version uses a 140kW front motor and a 230kW rear unit, with range dropping to 705km.
All variants share a 91.96kWh CATL lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.
Volkswagen Anhui said the 5C system can reach a peak DC charging power of 530kW when connected to a compatible high-power charger, enabling a claimed 10–80% recharge in under 12 minutes.
The manufacturer also claims five minutes of charging can replenish around 250km of CLTC-rated range.
Three variants are priced at 179,900 yuan (RM110,100), 219,900 yuan (RM134,600) and 249,900 yuan (RM152,900).
The entry price is 20,000 yuan (RM12,240) below September’s pre-sale figure.
A limited promotion campaign reduces the entry price to 169,900 yuan (RM104,000) for 500 black Ultra variants.
