Proton will preview its first electric vehicle in Singapore — the e.MAS 7 — this weekend at The Car Expo 2025, following its international debut in Nepal in late March. The return of the Proton brand to Singapore after more than a decade comes on the back of the e.MAS 7 emerging as Malaysia’s best-selling EV in the first four months of 2025.
The move is made in partnership with newly appointed distributor VINCAR Group, which will handle retail operations of Proton’s EV range under the e.MAS brand. Singapore ranks second globally in per-capita GDP (PPP), making it a key market for urban-focused electric vehicles.
Singapore’s shift towards green mobility has seen EVs rise from 12% to 18% of new car registrations between 2022 and 2023, with forecasts of 55% by 2027.
To facilitate this, authorities plan at least 12,000 charging points in Housing & Development Board car parks by 2025 and 60,000 by 2030, aiming for a fully clean-energy vehicle fleet by 2040 to meet net-zero targets.
The e.MAS 7 boasts a drag coefficient of 0.275, an aerodynamic silhouette, and a high-performance 12-in-1 electric drive system paired with an Aegis short blade battery.
Both Prime and Premium variants will be displayed at Singapore EXPO Hall 3 & 4. The C-segment SUV offers a 15.4-inch 2.5K touchscreen with Flyme Auto, a 7 nm intelligent cockpit chip, full LED lighting and a spacious, tech-forward interior. It will be offered in six colours: Platinum Silver, Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, Quartz Rose, Lithium White and Moyu Black.
Over 6,000 bookings have already been recorded in Malaysia, reflecting growing domestic interest in EVs so long as value propositions remain compelling.
