Proton’s electrified range posted its strongest month yet in July, with 3,888 units of the e.MAS 5, e.MAS 7 and e.MAS 7 plug-in hybrid delivered.

That lifted Proton e.MAS sales for the first seven months of 2026 to 21,808 units.

The e.MAS 5 remained the company’s biggest electrified model, with 13,196 units delivered year to date. Proton said it continued to lead Malaysia’s electric-vehicle market.

The e.MAS 7 plug-in hybrid contributed 4,946 units over the same period, while sales of the fully electric e.MAS 7 reached 3,666 units.

All three models are assembled at Proton’s New Energy Vehicle plant in Tanjung Malim. The company also produces the Dedicated Hybrid Transmission and Electric Drive Unit locally at its Advanced Powertrain Hub.

Proton expanded the e.MAS retail network in July by opening six outlets, taking the total to 58 sales locations and 45 service centres nationwide. The month also included the line-off ceremony for the locally assembled e.MAS 7 plug-in hybrid.

The record electrified-vehicle result formed part of a wider July sales total of 18,442 units, covering domestic deliveries, exports, Proton e.MAS and smart vehicles. That was 14.9% higher than in June and Proton’s second-best monthly result of 2026.

Cumulative sales reached 118,788 units at the end of July, up 38.7% from the same period last year. Proton estimated its year-to-date Malaysian market share at 25.8%, based on forecast total industry volume.

The Saga remained the company’s top-selling combustion-engine model with 7,814 units in July. The S70 recorded 2,857 deliveries, the X50 added 2,291 units and the seven-seat X90 contributed 441.

Exports also reached a new high for the year. Proton shipped 1,398 vehicles in July, its best monthly export volume since March 2013.

The company attributed the increase to stronger demand in overseas markets and regional production involving Proton-Geely models assembled in Tanjung Malim for selected countries.

Deputy chief executive officer Abdul Rashid Musa said higher export volumes would improve plant utilisation and support Malaysian suppliers.
