Genesis has unveiled two new features aimed at enhancing the charging experience for its electric vehicle (EV) owners: in-app charging and plug-and-charge.
These features, available through the MyGenesis app, allow users to seamlessly find, pay for, and control their charging sessions, significantly simplifying the process.
The in-app charging feature enables owners to locate, navigate to, and activate charging stations without needing third-party apps or physical credit cards. Users can also add payment details via Genesis Pay, enabling effortless transactions.
Additionally, dynamic route planning with charger routing is integrated into both the app and the vehicle’s infotainment system, making it easier to plan EV trips.
The plug-and-charge feature takes convenience a step further. Once activated in the MyGenesis app, this technology allows Genesis EVs to automatically initiate and pay for charging sessions at participating stations, eliminating the need for smartphones or cards.
Initial support for this feature includes IONNA, Tesla Supercharger, and select ChargePoint stations.
Currently, the features are available for the 2026 Electrified GV70 and GV60 (coming soon), with plans to expand to more Genesis models and public charging networks in the future.
Genesis Motor North America COO Tedros Mengiste said these features are part of the brand’s ongoing efforts to provide more flexibility for its EV customers.
