BYD Sime Motors has launched the 2026 BYD Atto 3 Performance in Malaysia at RM149,800, adding an all-wheel-drive flagship to the electric SUV range.
Only 69 units are available, a number chosen to coincide with Malaysia’s 69th Merdeka in 2026. Mechanical changes distinguish it from the two existing variants.
Its electric powertrain produces a combined 330 kW and 560 Nm, making it the most powerful Atto 3 offered in Malaysia. BYD quotes a 0–100 kph time of 4.0 seconds, compared with 5.5 seconds for the rear-wheel-drive Premium and 7.3 seconds for the front-wheel-drive Ultra.
The Performance uses the same 74.88 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate battery as the Premium. Its 530 km NEDC range (424km WLTP estimate) is 70 km shorter than the Premium’s official 600 km claim.
Actual consumption will depend on speed, traffic, weather and driving style.
DC fast charging peaks at 220 kW, matching the Premium and doubling the Ultra’s 110 kW rating. BYD did not provide a quoted charging time in the release.
The new variant also gets a windscreen head-up display and a refrigerator with cooling and heating functions. No previous Atto 3 sold here has offered that feature.
Its driver-assistance package is carried over from the Premium. Listed functions include Intelligent Speed Limit Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, Front Cross Traffic Alert and Front Cross Traffic Brake. Seven airbags are fitted, including a centre airbag between the front occupants.
Boot capacity can be expanded to 1,360 litres, while a 101-litre front boot provides additional storage. Other standard items include 18-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 15.6-inch central display, an 8.8-inch instrument screen, a tonneau cover and 50-watt wireless phone charging.
Four exterior colours are offered: Ski White, Atlantis Grey, Harbour Grey and Cosmos Black. Unlike the Premium, the limited-run Performance is not listed with the new Gemilang Blue finish. It measures 4,455 mm long.
The Performance completes the revised three-variant Atto 3 range. The 150 kW/310 Nm Ultra costs RM125,800 and uses a 60.48 kWh battery, with 480 km of NEDC range.
Sitting between them is the RM138,800 Premium, which sends 230 kW and 380 Nm to the rear wheels. Its claimed NEDC range is the line-up’s longest at 600 km.
Performance buyers may choose a wall charger with standard installation and overtrade support worth up to RM6,000, or a six-year standard service package with overtrade support worth up to RM5,000. BYD values the launch package at up to RM10,000, subject to terms and conditions.
Warranty coverage comprises six years or 150,000 km for the vehicle, and eight years or 160,000 km for both the high-voltage battery and drive unit. A vehicle-to-load adaptor and Type 2 charging cable with a three-pin plug are included.
BYD said more than 13,000 Atto 3s are now on Malaysian roads. Its local support network comprises 44 sales and marketing outlets, 28 service centres and 12 body and paint facilities.
The Atto 3 Performance can be viewed and booked at authorised BYD showrooms. Launch activities run from Sept 11–13.
