ProLogium has started mass production of its latest all-solid-state battery cells in Taiwan, claiming an energy density of 381Wh/kg and 903Wh/litre at cell level.
The Taiwanese battery developer said its Gen 3.5 Lithium Ceramic Battery has entered production at its Giga-level manufacturing facility after third-party testing by TÜV and UL Solutions.
A 185.4Ah large-format cell achieved the 381Wh/kg gravimetric figure during TÜV testing. ProLogium also said the cell met the definition of an all-solid-state battery under China’s GB/T 43568-2026 testing standard.
The figures are for individual cells rather than a complete EV battery pack, so they should not be directly compared with pack-level energy densities quoted by carmakers.
ProLogium has yet to announce a series-production passenger car using the new Gen 3.5 cell. The company is, however, working with automotive partners on bringing the technology into vehicles.
Among them is Mercedes-Benz, which signed a technology cooperation agreement with ProLogium in 2022 and made a high double-digit-million-euro investment in the company. Mercedes also took a seat on ProLogium’s board as the two sides began work on solid-state cells for future electric vehicles.
More recently, ProLogium signed an agreement with OPmobility to evaluate its solid-state cells for integration into EV battery modules and packs.
ProLogium said it has shipped more than 2.4 million Lithium Ceramic Battery cells since 2013 across consumer, speciality and automotive applications. That figure does not mean 2.4 million traction-battery cells have gone into production EVs.
The company is already developing its next Gen 4 chemistry, which will use a fully inorganic electrolyte.
