Proton e.MAS recorded 6,047 sales in August, its highest monthly total since launch, with the e.MAS 5 accounting for most of the volume.
Of the total, 5,999 vehicles were registered in Malaysia. The e.MAS 5 alone contributed 4,770 units, or 79.5% of domestic registrations. The e.MAS 7 added 613 units, while the e.MAS 7 PHEV recorded 616.
The remaining 48 vehicles were exports.
Pro-NET, which handles the Proton e.MAS business, said Selangor was its biggest state market in August with 51% of domestic sales. Johor and Penang followed, and the three states together accounted for 71%.
For the first eight months of 2026, Proton e.MAS recorded 27,402 domestic registrations and 453 exports to Nepal, Trinidad and Tobago, Singapore and Mauritius. Pro-NET puts total year-to-date sales at 27,855 units.
The August result came 20 months after the e.MAS 7 was launched on Dec 16, 2024. The range has since expanded to three models, including the lower-priced e.MAS 5 and plug-in hybrid e.MAS 7 PHEV.
Proton e.MAS now has 60 dealerships, 46 service centres and 10 body and paint centres nationwide, compared with 36 dealerships and 29 service centres at the end of August 2025.
Selected dealerships also provide 103 DC fast chargers. Pro-NET said the charging map in e.MAS vehicles and its app covers more than 4,700 charging points nationwide, including over 1,500 at more than 600 high-rise residences.
Pro-NET is also working with TVETMARA on its first aftersales skills competition for Malaysian EV technicians and service advisers.
