Audi’s new A6 allroad has reached European dealerships, including the model’s first plug-in hybrid variant with up to 95km of WLTP electric range.
The A6 allroad e-hybrid pairs a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 185kW with an electric motor rated at up to 105kW. Combined output is 270kW and 500Nm, with 0–100kph taking 5.5 seconds.
Its high-voltage battery has 25.9kWh gross and 20.7kWh usable capacity. AC charging is supported at up to 11kW, with a full charge taking around 2.5 hours.
European prices for the PHEV start at €80,250 (RM368,000).
Audi also uses its quattro ultra all-wheel-drive system in the PHEV. When four-wheel drive is unnecessary, two clutches disconnect the driveshaft and components of the rear drivetrain to reduce frictional losses.
The control system continuously monitors factors including steering angle, acceleration, road grip and driver inputs. Audi said it can anticipate the need for all-wheel drive about half a second ahead, while reconnecting the rear drivetrain takes around 200 milliseconds.
Under hard acceleration on dry roads, more than 70% of torque can be sent to the rear wheels, according to Audi’s internal measurements.
The fifth-generation A6 allroad was unveiled in June, when Audi announced the PHEV and its electric range.
Today’s update marks its arrival at European dealerships and provides further details on the quattro ultra system.
