Range Rover has introduced its first fully electric Sport, pairing a 118.5kWh battery with dual electric motors and up to 609km of WLTP range.
The Range Rover Sport Electric uses an 800V electrical architecture and two 260kW motors.
System output is rated at up to 550PS and 850Nm, the latter the highest torque figure yet for a Range Rover Sport. Dynamic Launch Mode takes it from 0-60mph, or about 97kph, in 4.3 seconds.
JLR has also made substantial chassis changes for the EV. Its body structure is 61% stiffer than the plug-in hybrid version, while the centre of gravity sits 73mm lower.
Adaptive Dynamics 2 monitors 100 parameters 500 times per second, working with Twin Valve Dampers and electronic Active Roll Control. All-wheel steering is also available, while the traction system uses software-controlled virtual all-wheel drive to distribute torque between the axles.
Despite its road-biased brief, Range Rover has retained the Sport’s off-road hardware. The electric model can wade through water up to 900mm deep and tackle gradients of up to 45 degrees, according to the company.
The 118.5kWh lithium-ion battery provides up to 609km of WLTP range. JLR also quotes up to 536km from its own standardised real-world test route.
On a suitable rapid DC charger, the Sport Electric can charge from 10% to 80% in around 22 minutes. A 10-minute stop can add as much as 220km of range when the vehicle is charging at its maximum rate.
Range Rover has made relatively few visual changes. The EV gets an aerodynamically optimised grille and wheel designs, which JLR said can contribute up to 16km of additional highway range.
Production will take place at JLR’s Solihull plant in the UK on the same lines as petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid Range Rover Sport models.
The Range Rover Sport Electric is offered in Dynamic SE, Dynamic HSE, Autobiography and First Edition specifications. The Autobiography version is also available through the Range Rover Bespoke personalisation programme.
The Range Rover Sport Electric is available to order in the UK from £109,810 (RM593,000), with first deliveries due in 2027. JLR also said orders are open in selected other markets, although it has not detailed the wider rollout.
