The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will suspend MyEG Sdn Bhd and Zetrix AI Bhd as collection agents from 12.01am on Oct 5, cutting off JPJ transactions through MYEG Group channels.
JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the department reached the decision after assessing whether the companies had met contractual requirements and settled their outstanding obligations.
The move comes as the Transport Ministry separately confirmed that Zetrix AI owes the federal government more than RM200 million in collections that have yet to be remitted.
The sum involves payments for vehicle road tax and driving licence renewals as well as traffic summonses.
The Edge reported, citing the ministry, that the outstanding collections date to Zetrix AI’s three-year JPJ contract which began in May 2023.
Motorists will still be able to conduct JPJ business through other available channels, including department counters, the MyJPJ app, JPJ public portal, kiosks, Mobile JPJ units and post offices.
KPP01 computerised driving theory tests already booked through MYEG before Oct 5 will proceed. From that date, new candidates must arrange their tests through KPP centres at driving institutes.
JPJ is also deploying mobile payment facilities for non-Malaysians settling summonses at the Malaysia-Singapore border. The units will operate at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex and Bangunan Sultan Iskandar in Johor from 8am to 10pm.
