Zeekr has expanded into East Malaysia with the opening of a pop-up store at The Spring Kuching, marking the premium EV brand’s first retail presence in the region.
The Kuching outlet is supported by Sarawak automotive group Ghee Hua, which signed a dealer agreement with Zeekr in July 2026 at the brand’s headquarters in Hangzhou, China.
Zeekr entered Malaysia in December 2024 and said it had sold over 5,000 cars nationwide by August 2026. The company said it had also seen demand from customers in Sarawak even before establishing an official retail presence there.
The pop-up store currently displays the Zeekr 7X, Zeekr 009 and Zeekr X, giving customers in Sarawak direct access to the brand’s existing model line-up.
Zeekr Malaysia general manager Eddy Lu said Sarawak was an important market for the company as interest in its EVs continued to grow.
The Kuching pop-up is an interim step. Zeekr is targeting the opening of a dedicated Zeekr Space Kuching 1S Centre and a service centre in the first quarter of 2027, which would add permanent sales and aftersales facilities in the state.
Zeekr has also rolled out its Mobile Service programme across East Malaysia, covering essential maintenance and vehicle inspection for customers while its permanent service network is being developed.
The Kuching expansion comes as Zeekr continues to build its dealer and aftersales network beyond Peninsular Malaysia.
