Xiaomi has confirmed plans to sell its electric cars in Indonesia, although the company has yet to set a launch date or disclose which models will be offered.
Xiaomi Indonesia country director Michael Feng told the local media in Jakarta that the company would “100 percent” bring its electric vehicles to the Indonesian market, according to Antara.
The commitment came during a press conference following the launch of the Redmi Note 17 series on Sept 16.
Feng said Indonesia would still have to wait, but described the country as an important market for Xiaomi globally.
For now, Xiaomi is focusing on Europe in its international expansion. The company’s official global website confirms that its cars will enter Europe in 2027, while preparations are already under way in Germany.
Xiaomi has signed memoranda with eight dealer groups covering Germany and Europe as it builds its sales and service network.
Xiaomi has not said whether its SU7 electric sedan, YU7 electric SUV or another model would lead its Indonesian entry.
The company’s global automotive website currently states that the SU7 and SU7 Ultra are not sold outside China.
No details have been announced on whether Indonesian-market Xiaomi EVs would be imported fully built or eventually assembled locally.
