Kia PV5 Passenger 7-seater adds more EV shuttle space for Europe

Kia has added a seven-seat version of the PV5 Passenger, giving its electric people-mover more reach beyond family use and into ride-hailing, taxi, airport transfer and shuttle work.

The new version uses a 2-2-3 seating layout, adding a third row to the existing five-seat PV5 Passenger.

Kia said the seven-seater offers 318 litres of luggage space with all seats in use, rising to 785 litres when the third row is folded. Access should be easier than in many sport utility vehicles (SUVs), thanks to sliding doors and a 399mm step-in height.

The PV5 sits on Kia’s Electric-Global Modular Platform for Service (E-GMP.S), a flat-floor electric platform developed for its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) range.

The seven-seat model uses the 71.2 kWh Long Range battery in the United Kingdom, with more than 390km WLTP range pending homologation. DC charging runs at up to 150 kW (204 PS), allowing a 10% to 80% charge in under 30 minutes.

The front charging port is a useful touch for commercial users, as the cable does not get in the way of the tailgate or cargo area. Kia also offers Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) on Plus and Elite grades, allowing the van-based EV to power external devices.

The seven-seater arrives with model year 2027 updates. These include a driver’s height-adjustable armrest, Walk Away Lock and a flat antenna that helps keep the vehicle below 1.9 metres in height, useful for car parks with low clearance.

Inside, the PV5 Passenger gets a 12.9-inch infotainment screen and 7.5-inch digital instrument cluster. Kia’s European product page also lists a 120 kW (163 PS) motor with 250 Nm, a 175mm battery ground clearance and up to 412km WLTP range for the broader PV5 Passenger line-up, depending on market and battery version.

For Europe, the PV5 is one of the few electric MPV-style alternatives to the Volkswagen ID. Buzz.

It is less nostalgic, more utilitarian and aimed as much at business fleets as private buyers. That may be its advantage. Families need space. Fleets need uptime. The PV5 Passenger 7-seater tries to serve both without pretending to be an SUV.

Prices for the 7-seater starts from £36,995 (RM199,000) in the UK.
