TQ Wuling has begun delivering the first locally assembled Bingo EVs to customer, giving the brand something tangible to show after months of launch messaging.
The first handovers took place last month, after CKD production started in Segambut, Kuala Lumpur. That is a useful step for a new player trying to settle into Malaysia’s increasingly busy entry-level EV market.
More importantly, the Bingo EV now comes with ADAS as standard on both the Pro and Max variants.
When the car first arrived, the safety equipment list looked a little light. TQ Wuling has now addressed that with blind spot warning, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert, rear collision warning, door opening warning and tyre pressure monitoring. Rain-sensing wipers and walk-away locking are also now included.
That gives the Bingo a stronger case beyond its styling. The rounded, retro-inspired look will still pull people into the showroom, and the compact footprint should suit town use well, but at this end of the market, added safety kit usually does more to win over cautious buyers.
Pricing is unchanged. The Pro stays at RM67,800 and the Max at RM72,800, before a RM5,000 early-bird rebate that lowers them to RM62,800 and RM67,800 respectively.
Claimed range remains up to 333km for the Pro and 410km for the Max on the CLTC cycle, so some caution is still needed there. That means expect lower real-world ranges.
TQ Wuling is also continuing to say Malaysia is the first market to get six airbags as standard for the Bingo.
The deliveries help, naturally. More importantly, the added safety kit makes the Bingo easier to take seriously than it was at launch.
