TQ Wuling officially launched the locally assembled Bingo EV in Malaysia today, positioning it as an attainable entry point into electric motoring.

The compact electric hatchback arrives in two locally assembled variants: Bingo Pro at RM67,800 and Bingo Max at RM72,800.

For early buyers, the company offers “Bingo’s Fabulous 5 Perks”, anchored by a RM5,000 cash rebate that reduces the on-the-road price to RM62,800 for the Pro and RM67,800 for the Max.

TQ Wuling was formed through a collaboration between Tan Chong Motor Holdings and SAIC-GM-Wuling, pairing local assembly and distribution with SGMW’s EV expertise.

Tan Chong Motor Holdings group CEO Daniel Ho said: “This launch represents a significant milestone for Tan Chong Group as we proudly introduce a highly affordable electric vehicle option for all Malaysians.”

On the powertrain side, the Pro uses a 31.9kWh LFP battery while the Max comes with a 37.9kWh pack. Claimed range is up to 333km (CLTC) for the Pro and up to 410km (CLTC) for the Max, figures that typically sit higher than real-world results. Both variants use a front-mounted 50kW motor with front-wheel drive, rated at 68PS and 150Nm.

Charging claims focus on routine urban use. The company said DC charging takes the battery from 30% to 80% in about 35 minutes, while AC charging from 0% to 100% would be around 4.5 hours for the Pro and 5.5 hours for the Max.

It also highlighted SGMW’s “Magic Battery” system and said it had been tested across more than three million EVs worldwide “with zero recorded fire incidents”.

Dimensionally, the Bingo EV measures 3,950mm long, 1,708mm wide and 1,580mm tall, with a 2,560mm wheelbase. Inside, it features dual 10.25-inch screens and supported Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Boot space is listed at 395 litres, expanding to 1,240 litres with the rear seats folded.

Safety equipment includes six airbags on both variants, plus ABS, EBD and ESC, along with TPMS and blind spot warning, the company said.

Warranty coverage is 8 years/120,000km for the EV battery, 8 years/160,000km for the drive motor, and 5 years/150,000km for the vehicle.

For the first 500 customers who book and place an order, the perks bundle include a 7kW home charger, a portable 3-pin charger, tinting, and selected insurance benefits, with online booking requiring a RM50 fee.

A “Bingo FAB 5 Weekender” is scheduled for Dec 20–21 at six Peninsular Malaysia showrooms, with test drives and booking offers.
