TQ Wuling began local assembly (CKD) of the TQ Wuling Bingo EV in Malaysia, with production taking place at Tan Chong Group’s Segambut facility in Kuala Lumpur.
The Bingo launch last month already stated the model would arrive in CKD form from the get-go. TQ Wuling’s announcement today merely made it official.
The company said the start of CKD marked a long-term commitment to Malaysia’s EV ecosystem and paired SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) EV know-how with Tan Chong’s local manufacturing capabilities.
The car is the first EV to be locally assembled at the Tan Chong assembly plant, TQ Wuling said, and production would ramp up in phases, with output scaled as demand grows.
TQ Wuling positioned the Bingo EV as an accessible urban runabout and announced two variants: Bingo PRO at RM67,800 and Bingo MAX at RM72,800.
A launch campaign dubbed “Bingo’s Fabulous 5 Perks” included a RM5,000 cash rebate, which brought on-the-road prices to RM62,800 (PRO) and RM67,800 (MAX).
The assembler said the first 500 customers would receive benefits “worth up to RM12,000”, including the cash rebate, warranty coverage for the battery and drive motor, low monthly instalments from RM625, a complimentary 7kW home charger, a portable 3-pin charger, solar tinting, and insurance benefits with EV coverage.
The Bingo EV offers six airbags and uses 1,500MPa ultra-high-tensile steel in its body structure.
Range figures are quoted in CLTC, with up to 333km for the PRO and 410km for the MAX. Inside, the Bingo featured a “floating-island” centre console and dual 10.25-inch screens.
The Bingo EV has an IP68-rated battery system and comes with warranties of 8 years/120,000km for the EV battery, 8 years/160,000km for the drive motor, and 5 years/150,000km for the vehicle, depending on which came first.
Six showrooms and seven aftersales centres are ready across Peninsular Malaysia, with more outlets planned.
