Grab Malaysia has added Neta V and Neta X models to its Rejected Car Models list amid safety concerns, the company has confirmed to soyacincau.com.

Neta V received zero stars in the Asean NCAP crash test, falling below the minimum three-star threshold Grab maintains despite its removal from the latest APAD guidelines.

Although Neta X has not yet been evaluated by Asean NCAP, Grab said it will continue to uphold high safety standards to protect passengers and driver-partners.

Both models are imported from China and made by Zhejiang Hozon New Energy Automobile, which went into bankruptcy proceedings last month.

Under its eligibility criteria, Grab Malaysia accepts all passenger cars under 14 years old — including pick-up trucks in East Malaysia — except those on its rejected list.

Soyacincau said official vehicle-registration records from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) indicate 298 units of Neta V and 59 units of Neta X were registered by May 31.

The Neta V debuted at the Malaysia Autoshow 2023 and launched commercially at RM100,000. The Neta X was previewed at Auto Show Malaysia 2024 and officially entered the market in July of the same year with a starting price of RM119,888 .

Local distributor Intro Synergy Sdn Bhd announced in early June that it was restructuring and shifting to a direct-to-consumer model. The company assured customers that service centres would remain operational and warranties honoured.

The move by Grab Malaysia delivers a further setback to Neta’s prospects in Malaysia, compounding the brand’s uncertain future amid distributor restructuring and parent-company financial difficulties.
