China’s automakers follow a pattern. Prior to official launch of their cars, they would do a series of previews to familiarise the public with the car.
This was the case with the Proton e.MAS 7 prior to its launch last December.
SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile is no different, borrowing the same template in its pre-launch marketing moves.
Wuling Motors, part of this joint venture is preparing to sell a compact electric vehicle (EV) in Malaysia soon, with the help of Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd.
Tan Chong Motor’s subsidiary TQ Manufacturing today announced that the TQ Wuling Bingo EV will be available for public preview nationwide from July under the #HelloTQWBingo Tour.
The fully electric five-door hatchback, locally assembled and priced below RM100,000, combines retro-modern styling with smart features and aims to redefine value in Malaysia’s entry-level EV segment.
TQ Manufacturing, which drives the group’s strategic partnership with SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd. (SGM Wuling) under the TQ Wuling brand, leverages over 70 years of Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad’s local manufacturing expertise and distribution network alongside SGM Wuling’s compact EV technology to deliver cost-efficient and reliable vehicles for Malaysian consumers.
Ahead of its official launch at year-end, the tour will showcase the Bingo EV at key locations across the country. Members of the public are invited to inspect the vehicle, participate in activities, collect exclusive giveaways and enjoy live performances.
TQ Manufacturing business head Wan Wei Sun said the tour follows an “overwhelming response” at the Malaysia Autoshow and aims to bring the model directly to Malaysians.
“That’s the spirit driving the #HelloTQWBingo Tour — giving people a chance to experience the car first-hand and understand why this model matters in making EVs more accessible to more Malaysians,” he said.
He added that the Bingo EV “brings together the best of both worlds – TCMH’s local distribution and assembly excellence of over 70 years and SGM Wuling’s innovation in proven accessible EV technologies.”
Designed with practicality and affordability in mind, the TQ Wuling Bingo offers competitive long-term ownership costs and stands among the most attractively priced EV hatchbacks on the market.
Its aerodynamic body enhances driving range and reduces wind noise, features uncommon at this price point. A selection of trendy pastel and two-tone exterior colours adds visual appeal for style-conscious urban commuters.
The Bingo EV marks the debut of the TQ Wuling brand, established through a strategic partnership unveiled earlier this year. Vehicles bearing the new marque will be assembled at Tan Chong’s Malaysian facility, which has produced more than one million vehicles.
Globally, SGM Wuling has sold over two million EVs and leads in compact EV technologies.
Its proprietary Magic EV battery, promising IP67 dust- and water-resistance and zero risk of fire or explosion, underpins the model’s reliability.
The Bingo EV is seen as a more affordable, smaller, and less powerful alternative to the Ora Good Cat.
