GAC Aion has officially launched the UT all-electric hatchback in Thailand, unveiling two variants – Standard and Premium – at a June 24 event ahead of its arrival in showrooms.

The Standard model, equipped with a 50kWh battery and a claimed 420km NEDC range, carries a full price of 519,900 baht (RM68,000), while the Premium, featuring a 60kWh pack and up to 500km of range, is priced at 669,900 baht (RM88,000).

Both variants benefit from an introductory discount valid until July 31, reducing prices by 20,000 baht (around RM2,600) each; thereafter, official pricing will apply.

During the pre-sale display at the 2025 Bangkok International Motor Show, the UT garnered more than 4,500 orders, helping GAC place second among new-energy vehicle brands and third across all marques by volume.

GAC plans to extend its “One GAC 2.0” global strategy in Thailand, accelerating localisation across products, manufacturing, channels, services, energy ecosystems and mobility systems.

Measuring 4,270 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and 1,575 mm in height, with a 2,750 mm wheelbase, the UT mirrors the proportions of its chief rival, the BYD Dolphin, which retails from 569,900 baht (RM75,000) to 709,900 baht (RM93,000) locally.

The Standard UT rides on 16-inch wheels, while the Premium gains 17-inch alloys; both offer four exterior hues.

Inside, a 14.6-inch central touchscreen supports Apple CarPlay, and a six-speaker audio system is standard. Equipment includes ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, automatic air conditioning with PM2.5 filtration, adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree surround-view camera.

Premium buyers also receive six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seating, four-way front-passenger adjustment, hands-free tailgate operation, wireless phone charging and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

The Standard UT’s front-mounted electric motor delivers 136hp and 145Nm, achieving 0–100kph in 12 seconds and a top speed of 150kph; the Premium’s unit produces 204hp and 210Nm, cuts the sprint to 8.3 seconds and shares the same maximum velocity.

Both variants employ a Level 2 ADiGO autonomous driving assistance system and six airbags.

GAC has yet to confirm Malaysian availability, though it plans to offer it in Indonesia later this month and in Singapore by the third quarter.

In Malaysia, GAC currently retails the Aion Y Plus from RM119,800 and the Aion ES from RM106,800, with the Hyptec HT crossover due soon.
