Omoway Omo-X global deliveries begin in Indonesia with self-balancing tech

Omoway has started global deliveries of the Omo-X, with Indonesia becoming the first market to receive the electric two-wheeler.

The big hook is not just that it is electric. It is the self-balancing tech. In Omo-X Balance form, the bike uses Omoway’s own Omo-Robot architecture to help keep the machine stable at low speeds, where many riders are most likely to wobble, stall or drop the bike.

That makes Omo-X a curious machine. Omoway calls it a smart motorcycle, although from the images and layout, many riders will probably see it as closer to a high-tech electric scooter.

Omoway wants to make two-wheelers easier to ride, more digital, and less intimidating for newer users.

In Indonesia, the Omo-X range starts from 44.5 million rupiah (RM10,100), and is split into four variants: Smart, Smart Long Range, Balance and Balance Pilot. The regular model uses a 5.38kWh LFP battery and is rated at up to 160km on the WMTC RS1 cycle, while the Long Range version gets a 7.68kWh pack and a 210km claim.

The self-balancing system is limited to the two Balance variants, with Indonesian reports putting their range at around 150km. Omoway has not separately published the full Balance specifications outside its app.

The Omo-X comes with a digital key, a large smart navigation display and remote vehicle control.

Indonesia is a sensible first stop. It is one of the world’s busiest two-wheeler markets, and Omoway has already built dealer coverage across Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, other parts of Java and Bali.

The company said the Omo-X became Indonesia’s No.1 electric motorcycle brand by order volume during its first month on sale.

Deliveries are due to expand beyond Indonesia, with Thailand, Singapore and Europe named as future markets.

The delivery start comes as Omoway confirms fresh funding. The company said it has completed Series A and Series A+ financing rounds, raising tens of millions of US dollars.

The Series A+ round was led by Lochpine Capital, an industrial investment fund backed by CATL. Its Series A round was led by Monolith, with CICC Capital and ZhenFund also involved.

Omoway has not been around long. It was founded in July 2024, and the Omo-X is its first serious shot at the market. The company is also working on Mobility One, a wheeled robot platform using the same basic tech.

Omoway is a Singapore-linked smart mobility company with R&D in Guangzhou and production operations in Indonesia.
