Mazda has received the first batch of right-hand-drive (RHD) Mazda6e electric liftbacks in Thailand, with 500 units landing at Laem Chabang Port in Chonburi, about 120km south-east of Bangkok on the country’s eastern seaboard.
News site Thairath Online reported that Mazda Sales Thailand is preparing the cars for handover to customers who had placed early bookings. The units are now going through final checks before being sent to dealers nationwide.
Mazda6e was launched in Thailand in March in two versions: Premium at 1,169,000 baht (RM145,000) and Exclusive at 1,199,000 baht (RM149,000).
The model is Mazda’s first fully electric car for the Thai market. It is imported from China, where it is built by Changan Mazda and sold as the Mazda EZ-6.
Both Thai variants use a single rear motor producing 258PS and 290Nm, paired with a 77.9kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. Mazda Thailand listed a 0-100kph time of 7.9 seconds, a 175kph top speed, 11kW AC charging and up to 194kW DC fast charging.
The claimed driving range is 654km on the NEDC cycle, or 560km under WLTP.
Mazda said it has prepared its dealer network, after-sales service, parts supply and customer support for the rollout.
Mazda is entering a Thai EV market already crowded with Chinese brands, plus a smaller number of European rivals.
Deliveries will begin after pre-delivery inspection and distribution to dealers are completed. Its Thai arrival also makes the Mazda6e one to watch for Malaysia, although Mazda has not announced a local launch.
