If Elon Musk has his way, no other businesses would get to use the terms “Robotaxi” and “Robobus”.
Tesla had filed trademarks for both terms recently, according to an Electrek report.
For Robotaxi, Tesla intends to include services like leasing of motor vehicles, transportation of passengers and goods, ridesharing, vehicle rental, and peer-to-peer vehicle sharing. The registration also includes transportation and delivery services, along with managing and tracking of vehicles and packages.
Similarly, the Robobus trademark covers electric buses and their parts, said Electrek. It also encompasses services like leasing, passenger transport, ridesharing, vehicle rental, and peer-to-peer vehicle sharing, in addition to transportation management for goods and passengers.
These filings indicate Tesla’s potential expansion into autonomous transportation services, both for individual and group travel.
The US Patent and Trademark Office have yet to decide on the Tesla applications.
