BYD distributor in Malaysia Sime Darby Motorshas launched the BYD M6, an all-electric 7-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).

The M6 is designed to cater to families seeking a spacious, comfortable, and environmentally-friendly travel solution. The vehicle is available in two variants, with the Standard priced at RM109,800 and the Extended variant at RM123,800.

The M6 offers ample interior space with flexible seating arrangements. Both the second and third-row seats can fold down to create a flat load area, expanding the boot capacity from 580 litres. This makes the M6 ideal for daily use as well as extended family vacations.

In terms of technology, the M6 features BYD’s Dragon Face aerodynamic design and comes equipped with a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen powered by the BYD Di-Link System, which supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The vehicle includes multiple charging ports for rear passengers and an optional Karaoke microphone feature for in-car entertainment.

The M6 also includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities, allowing it to serve as a mobile power source, suitable for activities like family outings or powering small businesses. Each power outlet comes with overload protection for safety.

The Standard variant of the M6 is powered by a 120 kW motor and has a range of 420km on the NEDC cycle, while the Extended variant features a 150 kW motor with a range of 530km. Discounting 15% of the outdated and overly optimistic NEDC range would give a more realistic WLTP range of 360km for Standard and 450km for Extended.

Both versions support DC fast charging, with the Extended variant capable of a faster charge rate. The M6 also supports home AC charging for everyday use.

BYD said the M6 comes with high safety levels. Both variants offer a range of systems including a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Traction Control System (TCS).

The Extended variant also includes advanced features like Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), and Blind Spot Detection (BSD). Both variants are equipped with six airbags and a 360-degree view monitor.

A highlight of the M6 is its LFP Blade Battery, known for its durability and safety. The battery has passed rigorous tests, including high-impact scenarios and overcharging, without catching fire or exploding. This battery technology is designed to provide enhanced safety for all passengers.

The launch event, held at Dataran Karnival Shah Alam, was attended by key executives from BYD and Sime Darby Motors.

To celebrate the launch, the first 300 bookings of the Extended variant will receive a complimentary home charger, and the first 100 bookings of any variant will receive RM800 in charging credits.

Additionally, BYD is offering year-end sales promotions on other models, including low-interest financing, free road tax, and rebates for vehicles registered by the end of the month.

The M6 is available in four colours: Crystal White, Ink Stone Blue, Cosmos Black, and Harbour Grey. The vehicle comes with a 6-year or 150,000-kilometre warranty, along with an 8-year or 160,000-kilometre battery warranty.

With today’s launch, BYD now offers an SUV in the Atto 3; a hatchback in the Dolphin; a sedan in the Seal and an MPV in the M6.
