Proton has returned to Singapore after an 11-year absence, launching its first electric vehicle, the e.MAS 7, in partnership with Vincar Group.

Chief executive Dr Li Chunrong said the tie-up combines Proton’s technology with Vincar’s local reach, adding that the brand would support Singapore owners who frequently travel to Malaysia.

Two variants are offered — Prime and Premium — priced at S$175,988 (RM577,000) and S$179,988 (RM590,000) respectively, inclusive of COE.

The first 99 units come with a Founders Edition package comprising a 10-year, unlimited-mileage battery warranty, five years of complimentary data roaming in Malaysia and Singapore, and cross-border roadside assistance covering Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore.

Singapore buyers get six exterior colours (Platinum Silver, Lithium White, Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, Quartz Rose, Obsidian Black) and a choice of Indigo Blue or Alabaster White cabins.

Proton is positioning the e.MAS 7 as a feature-rich, safety-led option backed by its regional 3S/4S network.

The model holds an ASEAN NCAP score of 92.57 points, the highest in its segment, and anchors Proton e.MAS’s rapid start in Malaysia, where nearly 6,000 units were delivered in the first eight months of 2025 for a 24% EV market share despite a single-model range.

The launch coincides with Malaysia’s planned Sept 22 trial of the National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe), expected to ease travel between Singapore and Johor Baru — a boon for cross-border EV owners.

The e.MAS 7 made its export debut in Nepal in March, followed by Trinidad & Tobago, and now Singapore.
