American courier company FedEx has expanded its Malaysian fleet with 41 Maxus e-Deliver 3 electric vans, intensifying its shift to lower-emission last-mile operations.
The vehicles — each rated for a 920 kg payload and an estimated 228km range — will serve parcel pick-up and delivery routes in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Baru, Ipoh, Penang and the Klang Valley.
FedEx has also installed 41 AC/DC charging points at key sites to support the rollout.
The company estimates the new vans would avoid about 305 metric tonnes of tailpipe CO2 annually versus the diesel units they replace.
FedEx said the deployment was a milestone towards its 2040 carbon-neutral operations goal, which includes a fully electric pick-up and delivery fleet by the same year.
Malaysia is a key market for FedEx’s electrification push.
The firm introduced its first two EVs in the Klang Valley in May 2023, then conducted the company’s first cross-border EV delivery trial from Malaysia to Singapore in February 2024, an effort recognised by the Malaysian Book of Records.
