iCaur Malaysia has started local assembly of the iCaur 03 RWD, completing the CKD line-up for the electric SUV after the iWD variant entered local production in May.
The locally assembled RWD keeps the same RM119,740 on-the-road price without insurance in Peninsular Malaysia as the earlier CBU model. iCaur said specifications, features and performance are unchanged following the switch to CKD production.
Power comes from a single rear-mounted motor producing 135kW, or 184PS, and 220Nm. The rear-wheel-drive model also offers five selectable drive modes.
Its 65.7kWh lithium iron phosphate battery provides a claimed range of up to 426km on the NEDC cycle. Charging is supported at up to 80kW DC and 6.6kW AC.
Production of the CKD iCaur 03 RWD began in September, with the first locally assembled units scheduled to reach customers in October. iCaur said initial supply would be limited.
The latest move means both versions of the iCaur 03 are now assembled locally, while the RWD variant enters CKD production without a corresponding change in price or equipment.
