Nio unveils the all-new ES8 and opens pre-orders in China ahead of a late-September launch, with deliveries to start at launch.
The Executive Premium Edition is priced from 416,800 yuan (RM247,000), or 308,800 yuan (RM183,000) with the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan.
The Executive Signature Edition starts from 456,800 yuan (RM271,000), or 348,800 yuan (RM207,000) with BaaS.
A limited pre-order offer converts a 5,000 yuan (RM2,956) deposit into a 10,000 yuan (RM5,912) price deduction. Repurchase perks include vouchers for existing Nio owners, with benefits varying by previous model; offers do not stack.
Sized up to a large SUV, the ES8 measures 5,280 mm long with a 3,130 mm wheelbase and comes in six- or seven-seat configurations.
Nio quotes a class-leading cabin footprint, a panoramic glass roof, and easy access aided by air suspension that lowers the vehicle by 50 mm in seven seconds.
The six-seater equips three zero-gravity seats as standard, including two in the second row, while the third row reclines up to 130 degrees.
Multiple storage areas include a powered front trunk and underfloor space.
Cabin tech centres on a 15.6-inch Amoled centre display and an overhead 21.4-inch mini-LED screen with Theatre Mode.
A Lyra 8.1.4.2 audio system lists 27 speakers and 2,600 W output with Dolby Atmos and Dirac processing. Ambient lighting offers themed programmes across the cabin.
Material options include Nappa leather and wood accents in four interior palettes.
The ES8 runs a 900 V architecture with a standard 102 kWh battery and dual motors rated at 520 kW and 700 Nm.
Nio claims 0–100kph in 3.97 seconds, a drag coefficient of 0.259, and up to 635 km CLTC range.
Chassis hardware includes five-link suspension front and rear with a dual-chamber air setup and up to 100mm height travel. A tight turning radius of 5.7m is achieved via a 41-degree front steering angle and EasyTurn assistance.
Electronics are built on Nio’s centralised computing cluster using in-house NX9031 and Qualcomm SA8295P chips running SkyOS.
The Nio Assisted and Intelligent Driving suite integrates 31 sensors, including LiDARs and 4D imaging radar, for wide-area perception.
Safety content lists 11 airbags and structural reinforcement beyond typical five-star benchmarks, according to Nio.
Nio points to a nationwide charging and battery-swap footprint that links major highways and city clusters, pitching the ES8 to buyers who prioritise rapid turnaround and long-distance convenience.
The official launch is scheduled for late September, with first customer handovers starting at that point.
