MG Motor Malaysia has launched a new rear-wheel-drive variant of its all-electric roadster, the Cyberster RWD, priced from RM299,900.

MG continues to offer the existing four-wheel-drive Cyberster 4WD at RM319,900.

The two-door model features electric scissor doors and a low-slung Kammback silhouette, marking what its maker claims as the world’s first pure electric roadster.

Its single-motor rear-drive powertrain produces 340 PS and 475 Nm of torque, propelling the Cyberster from 0–100kph in 5.0 seconds. A 77 kWh battery underpins a claimed 508km driving range and allows fast DC charging from 10% to 80% state of charge in 38 minutes.

Standard equipment on the Cyberster RWD includes 19-inch alloy wheels, Brembo brake calipers and a tri-screen cockpit comprising a 10.25-inch driver display, dual 7-inch auxiliary screens and a 7-inch central infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The racing-inspired cabin is trimmed in leather with Alcantara inserts and enhanced lumbar support. MG’s bespoke horizontal battery layout maximises cabin space and maintains a low centre of gravity for sharper handling, while advanced battery technology limits cell expansion to improve safety and long-term durability.

Warranty cover extends to seven years or 150,000 km for the vehicle, eight years or 180,000km for the high-voltage battery pack, and eight years or 160,000km for the drive motor and motor control unit. Buyers also receive one year of unlimited charging via the JomCharge network and a complimentary 7 kW wallbox charger.

The Cyberster is available in four exterior colours: Dynamic Red and Camden Grey pair with a black and red interior, while Inca Yellow and English White are matched to a grey cabin. A red fabric soft top may be optioned for RM2,000 above the standard black roof.

To celebrate the launch, MG Motor Malaysia is hosting a “Dare to Love” roadshow at 1 Utama Shopping Centre (Old Wing, Ground Floor Centre Court) from July 9-13, daily from 10 am until 10 pm.

Visitors can view the Cyberster RWD alongside MG’s full electric and combustion line-up, including the MG5, MG4, MG HS and MGS5 EV, and may book test drives on site.

Customers placing a booking for the Cyberster at the event will receive a one-year unlimited JomCharge package with AutoCharge functionality, the wallbox charger and an exclusive limited-edition Cyberster die-cast model.

During the roadshow, promotional pricing applies to the MGS5 EV range, with the 49 kWh COM from RM109,900, the 62 kWh COM Long Range from RM119,900 and the 62 kWh LUX Long Range from RM129,900, each reflecting RM6,000 in launch-exclusive savings.

A RM7,000 rebate is offered on the MG5, and the MG4 is available on flexible ownership plans from RM974 per month.
