Sime Motors has launched Malaysia’s first structured zero-waste tyre recycling programme across its peninsular dealerships, starting July 1.
In partnership with Evergreen Corporate Sdn Bhd, the initiative will collect end-of-life tyres from service centres representing BMW, MINI, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo, BYD, Denza, Drivecare and Auto Selection.
The collected tyres will enter a closed-loop process designed to recover all materials and minimise harmful emissions.
Under the scheme, Evergreen Corporate will process used tyres at its Advanced Thermal Recovery Green Technology facility.
The technology enables 100% recovery of materials, transforming waste into industrial inputs including carbon black, fuel oil and recovered steel.
Evergreen Corporate holds an ESG Gold rating from the Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad, reflecting its leadership in sustainable waste management.
Sime Motors managing director for Southeast Asia Jeffrey Gan said the programme was the group’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in waste management.
Evergreen Corporate co-founder Kwang Meng Kian said the partnership not only addresses tyre disposal challenges but offers a clean, scalable solution to support the country’s green economy.
The programme aligns with Department of Environment standards and supports national ESG objectives by ensuring that customers’ used tyres are handled responsibly when they service or buy vehicles at Sime Motors outlets.
