XPeng will take its new G9L flagship SUV to 64 countries and regions, with the international launch scheduled for Oct 12 at the Paris Motor Show.

The G9L was launched in China on Sept 17 and will be offered with both battery-electric and range-extended electric powertrains. At 5,120mm long with a 3,100mm wheelbase, it sits above the existing G9 as XPeng’s new SUV flagship.

Much of the technology is shared with XPeng’s wider artificial-intelligence programme. The G9L runs the company’s second-generation VLA 2.0 vehicle model and uses its Turing AI chip, the same processor developed for the IRON humanoid robot.

XPeng said the system is designed to adapt more quickly across different countries and driving environments, an important requirement as the company expands beyond China.

The G9L has also been developed with international safety regulations in mind. XPeng said it completed 192 crash tests covering Euro NCAP, ANCAP, C-NCAP and China’s CIASI protocols, comprising more than 110 individual test items.

Development vehicles covered more than 6.74 million kilometres across 26 countries and regions over three years.

Production will take place in Guangzhou, China, and at Magna’s plant in Graz, Austria.

The G9L will be the fourth XPeng model assembled at Graz after the G6, G9 and P7+, extending a manufacturing partnership announced with Magna in September 2025.

XPeng said the arrangement has allowed it to put four models into European production within a year.

The European production plan also supports XPeng’s strategy of building cars closer to overseas customers rather than relying entirely on exports from China.

Paris will be the first stop for the G9L’s broader international rollout. Earlier European material from XPeng said the model had been designed from the outset for international markets.

Chief executive He Xiaopeng used the Beijing launch to underline the link between XPeng’s vehicles and its robotics programme.

The company has also commissioned an automated production line for its next-generation IRON humanoid robot, which it plans to commercialise from 2027.

The G9L will be shown at XPeng’s stand in Hall 6 when the Paris Motor Show opens on Oct 12.
