GWM Malaysia has signed a memorandum of understanding with Touch ’n Go to equip every new GWM booked and registered from Aug 1, 2026 with a co-branded radio frequency identification (RFID) tag.

The co-branded RFID tag will either be installed before delivery or supplied with the vehicle for use on participating toll roads in Peninsular Malaysia.

It gives owners access to Touch ’n Go RFID toll lanes without having to buy and arrange installation of a tag after collecting their car. No eWallet integration, loyalty benefits or charging-related services have been announced under the deal.

The agreement followed GWM’s involvement in Touch ’n Go’s recent demonstration of its Enhanced RFID lane at the Dato Keramat toll plaza on the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway.

The upgraded lane works with existing RFID tags and is intended to improve detection speed and reliability. It is part of Touch ’n Go’s preparations for eventual barrier-free Multi-Lane Fast Flow tolling.

GWM announced the partnership alongside its strongest Malaysian first-half sales result. It delivered 3,166 vehicles between January and June 2026, up 42.4% from 2,224 units in the same period last year.

Sales rose from 1,294 units in the first quarter to 1,872 in the second, an increase of 44.7%. GWM said the result placed it among Malaysia’s 11 best-selling vehicle brands during the period.

The locally assembled Haval H6 HEV remained its main volume model.

Deliveries increased from 656 units in the first quarter to 895 in the second.

The Wey G9 Hi4 plug-in hybrid MPV recorded a larger rise, moving from 421 units to 707 over the same periods. That brought its first-half total to 1,128 units.

GWM Malaysia said the WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV remained its best-selling luxury MPV among officially distributed OEM brands in Malaysia.

Ora Good Cat sales nearly doubled quarter on quarter, although GWM did not disclose the corresponding unit total.

Two more electrified models are planned. The Ora 5 HEV is expected during the second half of 2026, followed by the Haval H7 Hi4 PHEV in early 2027.

GWM will also run a Merdeka and Malaysia Day campaign from Aug 1 to Sept 30.

Six customers stand to win up to RM1,000 in toll cashback, while selected models receive savings of up to RM30,000 during August and five years of complimentary service maintenance.
