Touch ’n Go has introduced its first Enhanced RFID lane at the Dato Keramat Toll Plaza on the Ampang–Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway, or AKLEH.
The installation begins a planned rollout intended to increase lane throughput and prepare existing toll infrastructure for Malaysia’s eventual multi-lane free flow system.
The lane is marked by a gold star on its RFID sign. Motorists can continue using their existing Touch ’n Go RFID tags, including first-generation tags introduced in 2018, without replacing them.
The installation incorporates selected components from Touch ’n Go’s locally developed Titan Flow technology, primarily RFID, automatic number plate recognition, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
The complete Titan Flow platform also uses LiDAR for vehicle detection and classification in barrier-free tolling applications.
Touch ’n Go chief executive officer Praba Sangarajoo said the technology was developed for Malaysian traffic patterns, driving behaviour and tropical weather.
The company claims Titan Flow achieved 99.98% vehicle-detection accuracy under real-world driving and weather conditions.
Touch ’n Go plans to install 10 Enhanced RFID lanes across selected highways by the end of 2026.
The equipment is intended to support a future transition to barrier-free multi-lane free flow tolling once the necessary legal and regulatory framework is in place.
