Tesla is adding more charging locations and software functions in Malaysia as its local vehicle population passes 16,000 units.
Its Supercharger network currently comprises 84 charging points at 19 sites.
Further locations are planned in Penang, Perak and the Klang Valley, while voco Kuching hotel has become the company’s first AC charging site in East Malaysia.
The carmaker also released several local market claims. It described the Model Y as Malaysia’s most popular imported electric vehicle, but did not state the period covered.
The Model 3 was identified as the best-selling electric saloon in June 2026.
Deliveries of the Model Y L began in Peninsular Malaysia on June 4 before extending to East Malaysia on July 4.
Existing owners are also receiving new functions through Tesla’s Summer 2026 over-the-air software package.
The update added wider Grok voice control for selected phone, music and climate functions, alongside navigation and driving-data changes.
Tesla’s 16,000-unit figure refers to vehicles currently on Malaysian roads. It should not be treated as a confirmed cumulative sales total because the company did not provide registration records or a model-by-model breakdown.
