Polestar has confirmed a new member of the Polestar 4 family, with the Polestar 4 SUV due to go on sale from Sept 2.
The Swedish EV brand said the new variant builds on the existing Polestar 4 coupé, but adds more practicality and storage flexibility.
In other words, this is aimed at buyers who like the current car’s design and performance, but want something less compromised for family or luggage use.
Polestar has not released full dimensions, boot capacity or pricing. What it has confirmed is that both the Polestar 4 SUV and the latest Polestar 4 coupé get retuned chassis components, with the company claiming a more refined but still sporty drive.
The powertrain base stays familiar. Polestar said the SUV uses a 400V electrical architecture, with up to 630km of WLTP range in Rear motor versions and up to 544hp in Dual motor models.
Production will take place in Busan, South Korea, and order books will open in most Polestar markets.
The new SUV also fits earlier reports that Polestar was preparing a more practical station wagon/SUV version of the Polestar 4 from South Korea, with shipping expected in the fourth quarter. Reuters reported in February that the model formed part of Polestar’s lower-cost product refresh plan.
