Lexus has given the NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid a major electrical upgrade, with a larger battery, more power and DC fast charging among the headline changes to the updated NX.
In European specification, the new lithium-ion battery grows from 18kWh to 23kWh. Provisional WLTP electric range rises by almost 40% to more than 100km, while a 10-80% DC charge takes about 30 minutes. It is the first Lexus plug-in hybrid to support DC fast charging.
Output increases as well. Lexus lists global system output at 215kW to 240kW depending on market. The European prototype is rated at 226kW, or 307PS, up from 292PS, with 0-100kph taking 6.1 seconds.
Lexus has also introduced its sixth-generation hybrid system. The power control unit and transaxle are packaged into a more compact e-Axle-style unit, while silicon-carbide semiconductors in the inverter cut electrical losses.
The NX 450h+ battery adopts a transverse cell layout and is mounted lower, helping increase body rigidity and reduce the centre of gravity.
The NX 350h full hybrid also gets technical changes. European system output is 146kW, or 199PS, while the lithium-ion battery drops in weight from 32.7kg to 23.5kg. Lexus quotes 0-100kph times of 7.3 seconds for all-wheel drive and 7.7 seconds for front-wheel drive. Both European versions are also rated to tow up to 1,500kg.
Mechanical revisions go beyond the powertrains. Overall length increases by 30mm to 4,690mm, although the 1,865mm width, 1,660mm height and 2,690mm wheelbase are unchanged. Floor rigidity rises by about 25% and suspension-tower rigidity by around 30%. The steering wheel is also 10mm smaller in diameter at 360mm.
The cabin pairs a 12.3-inch digital instrument display with a 14-inch multimedia screen. A new Sensory Concierge can coordinate lighting, music, climate control, seat temperature and fragrance, while the latest Lexus Safety System+ brings wider object detection and revised driver-assistance functions.
Exterior changes include a reshaped grille area, dual-line daytime running lights and rear lamps with a new double-L signature and illuminated Lexus logo. F Sport versions receive model-specific aerodynamic trim and 20-inch wheels.
The NX debuted in 2014 as Lexus’ first compact crossover SUV. Sales had reached about 1.9 million units across more than 90 countries and regions by the end of July 2026.
Lexus said the updated NX will reach global markets from the end of 2026. Final specifications will vary by region.
