Wuling has started customer deliveries of the Eksion in Indonesia, giving the market a seven-seat SUV offered as both a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).
The first batch was handed over on May 9, according to SAIC-GM-Wuling. The timing was tied to SAIC Group passing 100 million global vehicle deliveries, with Wuling accounting for more than 32 million of that total.
The Eksion is a three-row, seven-seat SUV measuring 4,745 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,755 mm tall, with a 2,810 mm wheelbase. It uses MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link independent rear suspension.
In BEV form, the Eksion gets a 69.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and a front motor producing 150 kW (204 PS) and 310 Nm. Wuling quotes up to 530km CLTC (around 424km WLTP) of range. Drive goes to the front wheels through a single-speed reduction gearbox.
The PHEV uses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, a dedicated hybrid transmission, a 20.5 kWh LFP battery and a 52-litre fuel tank. The electric motor makes 145 kW (197 PS) and 230 Nm. Wuling quotes up to 125km CLTC (100km WLTP) of electric driving and more than 1,000km total range.
Early-bird prices start at 389 million rupiah (RM87,000) for the Eksion EV CE and 459 million rupiah (RM102,000) for the EV EX. The PHEV CE starts at 449 million rupiah (RM100,000), while the PHEV EX starts at 499 million rupiah (RM111,000).
The cabin has the usual family-SUV checklist: seven seats, air-conditioning vents for all rows, a 12.8-inch centre screen, an 8.8-inch driver display, voice command in Indonesian and English, synthetic leather upholstery, a 360-degree camera and up to six airbags.
The EX variants also get the stronger safety and driver-assist package, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert.
Wuling said its Indonesian operation now includes 16 core component suppliers, a plant with 120,000-unit annual capacity and more than 100 local suppliers. The company also claimed cumulative Indonesian sales of more than 180,000 units.
Wuling is using Indonesia as a base while expanding its Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand network, with Vietnam and the Philippines also named as future targets.
