BMW has unveiled the iX3 M60 xDrive, the first M Performance variant of its Neue Klasse electric SUV, with 450kW, 875Nm and a 0–100kph acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.
The dual-motor all-wheel-drive model sits at the top of the iX3 range, with a maximum speed of 240kph.
Orders open at the end of January 2027, ahead of production at BMW’s Debrecen plant in Hungary in spring.
Power comes from BMW’s sixth-generation electric drivetrain, featuring an electrically excited synchronous motor at the rear and another motor driving the front axle.
The rear motor gets a redesigned stator and a more powerful inverter rated at 420A, up from 300A. Combined with a revised gear ratio and higher maximum rotor speed, the changes allow greater output and a higher top speed.
A 108.7kWh usable battery provides a provisional WLTP range of up to 754km. Energy consumption is rated at 17.6–20.5kWh/100km.
Built on an 800V electrical architecture, the M60 supports DC charging at up to 400kW, adding as much as 340km of WLTP range in 10 minutes under ideal conditions. AC charging at 22kW is standard, alongside bidirectional charging capability.
BMW has also revised the chassis to handle the additional performance. Adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers, variable-ratio sport steering and an electronically controlled rear M Sport differential are standard.
The suspension receives bespoke spring and damper settings, additional front-end bracing and revised anti-roll bar connections to improve steering precision and reduce body movement.
BMW’s Heart of Joy computer coordinates propulsion, braking, steering and energy recuperation through M Dynamic Performance Control. The company says it processes driving functions 10 times faster than previous systems.
Drivers can adjust the car’s responses through M Sport and M Sport Plus modes, while steering-wheel paddles allow direct control over selected drivetrain settings.
Exterior differences include M-specific lighting with yellow accents, 21-inch wheels, redesigned mirrors and a rear spoiler with twin aeroblades. Larger 22-inch wheels are optional.
Inside, the M60 features sports seats, a dedicated M steering wheel and BMW’s Panoramic iDrive interface with a 17.9-inch central display. Boost and M Mode functions have dedicated steering-wheel buttons.
All performance, charging and range figures remain provisional pending final homologation.
