Mercedes-Benz drivers no longer need to rely on individual charging operator apps at thousands of Malaysian charge points, following the local introduction of MB.CHARGE Public.

The service brings seven Malaysian charging networks into the Mercedes-Benz digital system. Owners of compatible electric vehicles and selected plug-in hybrids can search for a charger, check its price and start a charging session using either the car’s MBUX multimedia system or the Mercedes-Benz App.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia lists more than 3,000 plugs at over 1,000 locations as accessible through MB.CHARGE Public. The chargers belong to participating operators rather than representing a new network of 3,000 Mercedes-Benz chargers.

The Malaysian partners are CarputZap, Charge+, ChargeSini, chargEV, DC Handal, Gentari and JomCharge. Mercedes-Benz said additional charge point operators are being added to the system.

For drivers using MBUX, compatible charging points can be shown through the navigation system together with availability information. Searches can also be narrowed by charging speed, while Navigation with Electric Intelligence can work suitable charging stops into a route.

MB.CHARGE Public also consolidates payment. The applicable operator’s rate is shown before charging, including whether billing is by kWh or time. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia said customers pay the charging operator’s standard rate, while completed sessions are billed through the payment details registered with MB.CHARGE Public.

Users need a Mercedes me account, a compatible vehicle identification number and an activated MB.CHARGE Public charging contract.

The same service extends into Singapore, where Malaysian Mercedes-Benz customers can use participating chargers operated by Charge+, ComfortDelGro Energy, SP Group and Volt. Singapore customers can likewise use MB.CHARGE Public at participating Malaysian chargers.
