Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today launched the CLA 250+ with EQ Technology at RM274,888 on-the-road without insurance, RM21,000 below the estimated RM295,888 price announced when bookings opened in January.

Only one variant is offered at launch, the CLA 250+ AMG Line. It uses a rear-mounted electric motor producing 200kW and 335Nm, paired with a two-speed transmission and rear-wheel drive. The claimed 0–100kph time is 6.7 seconds, while top speed is 210kph.

An 85kWh usable battery gives the CLA 250+ a WLTP range of up to 792km. Mercedes-Benz’s 800V electrical architecture allows DC charging at up to 320kW, with a 10–80% charge taking about 22 minutes under suitable conditions. The company also quotes up to 325km of additional range from a 10-minute DC charging stop.

The electric CLA is the first production model based on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture, or MMA, and also introduces the company’s MB.OS operating system. Mercedes-Benz quotes WLTP energy consumption of 12.2–14.1kWh/100km for the CLA 250+ in its global specification.

The new model measures 4,723mm long, 1,468mm tall and 2,021mm wide including mirrors. Its body retains the CLA’s low-roof four-door shape, but the electric version gets a closed front panel filled with illuminated Mercedes-Benz star motifs.

Inside, the Malaysian model is offered with the MBUX Superscreen, sports seats and a panoramic roof. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s product page also lists Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, heated front seats, hands-free boot access and a tyre-pressure monitoring system among available equipment.

Luggage capacity is 405 litres at the rear, with a further 101 litres available in the front storage compartment.

The CLA 250+ comes with a four-year, unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 160,000km battery warranty. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is also advertising Agility+ financing from RM2,988 a month. The first 100 buyers are being offered access to the Mercedes-AMG F1 Party in Kuala Lumpur.

The car is on display at The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur from Aug 14 to 23.

At RM274,888, the production price is notably lower than Mercedes-Benz Malaysia indicated seven months ago, while the main technical draw remains its combination of long WLTP range and 320kW DC charging.
