Condo living has always been one of the awkward part of EV ownership. Proton e.MAS is now trying to make that less painful.
Pro-NET, Proton’s new energy subsidiary, said the Proton e.MAS charging network now covers more than 1,500 charging points at over 500 participating condominiums and high-rise residences nationwide.
The move is aimed at owners who cannot install a wallbox at home because they live in strata properties.
The selling point is cost as much as access. Proton e.MAS owners at selected residential chargers can charge from 63 sen per kWh through the Proton e.MAS app, with the special rate available until Dec 31, 2026.
Pro-NET said the expanded coverage includes the Klang Valley, Penang and Johor, with additional sites in Sabah, Sarawak and other major cities.
For daily use, the process stays inside the Proton e.MAS app. Owners open the charging map, pick the charger at their residence, select the connector shown on the physical charger, complete pre-authorisation and start the session from the phone.
While EV ownership is easiest for landed-home buyers with private parking and a wallbox. Malaysia’s urban car market is not built only around that group.
Owners and interested residents can check charger availability and register interest for future installation through Proton e.MAS’s charging platform.
