Giti Tire has secured original equipment approval for its new GitiSynergy H3 tyre on the all-electric BMW iX1 and BMW iX2.
The tyre will be supplied in 245/40 R20 99Y XL size and has been developed specifically for BMW Group’s requirements. That means it is not just a standard replacement tyre with a different label. It has been tuned around rolling resistance, noise, wear life, handling and sustainability.
One key result is the EU rolling-resistance label rating of A, the highest grade under the system. For electric cars, lower rolling resistance helps reduce energy use, although the tyre still has to meet the usual demands for stability, comfort and durability.
The GitiSynergy H3 will also carry BMW’s star marking on the sidewall. That symbol indicates BMW Group approval and shows the tyre has been homologated for the car maker’s original equipment specifications.
Giti has worked with BMW Group before. Its GitiWinterW2 was previously approved for the BMW 1 Series, while the GitiSynergyH2 was selected for a MINI fitment.
Nicolas Kluson, Giti Tire’s key account manager for Europe original equipment, said BMW Group wanted a tyre with low rolling resistance without giving up handling performance.
The GitiSynergy H3 was designed and engineered at Giti Tire’s European R&D Centre in Hannover, Germany. Testing was carried out at Giti’s MIRA facility in the UK, along with sites in Germany and Spain.
