Dongfeng Malaysia has brought three of its larger electrified models to the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, marking the first public appearance of the 008 SUV, MHero II off-roader and Voyah Dream MPV in Malaysia.

Plans to display the trio had been signalled as early as April, but the vehicles made their physical debut as KLIMS entered its final stretch. The show runs from June 12 to 21 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

Together, the three models take Dongfeng beyond its current Malaysian line-up of the Box, Vigo and 007. They also cover three distinct segments: a large family SUV, a luxury off-roader and an executive MPV.

No Malaysian prices, launch dates or final specifications have been announced. All three vehicles on display are left-hand-drive units based on China-market specifications, so equipment and technical details could change should they enter local showrooms.

008

The Dongfeng 008 is a large battery-electric SUV aimed at buyers who need more cabin space than the brand’s existing models provide.

The KLIMS display vehicle has six seats, with individual captain chairs in the second row. Dongfeng also lists an intelligent in-car refrigerator, entertainment features and other cabin conveniences designed for long-distance family travel.

China-market specifications include a rear-mounted electric motor producing 200 kW and 340 Nm. Power comes from an 82.28 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, with a claimed driving range of 636 km under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle.

The 008 is also offered in China with a range-extender powertrain, although the vehicle shown at KLIMS is the fully electric version.

MHero II.

MHero II

The MHero II is the most imposing of the three. Known in China as the Mengshi M817, it is a large plug-in hybrid off-road SUV combining a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with two electric motors.

Its system produces a claimed 687 PS and 848 Nm. The plug-in hybrid setup can also run in an electric-led range-extender mode, using the petrol engine to help maintain the battery’s charge during longer journeys.

China-market figures list up to 215 km of electric-only range and 1,365 km of combined range under the CLTC standard. Dongfeng Malaysia rounds the latter figure to more than 1,300 km in its KLIMS material.

The MHero II also comes with intelligent all-wheel drive, several terrain settings and advanced chassis systems. Its claimed wading depth is 900 mm, putting it firmly in serious off-roader territory rather than positioning it as another road-biased luxury SUV.

Despite its rugged brief, the cabin takes a more upmarket approach, with large displays, extensive electronic controls and the comfort equipment expected of a flagship model.

Voyah Dream.

Voyah Dream

The Voyah Dream is Dongfeng Group’s luxury MPV, aimed at families, business users and chauffeur-driven buyers.

Both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid versions are sold internationally. The KLIMS vehicle is the plug-in hybrid, which uses an 800V electrical architecture and a 62.5 kWh battery.

China-market specifications claim up to 350 km of electric-only range. Dongfeng Malaysia said the plug-in hybrid can cover as much as 1,500 km when its petrol engine and electric drive system are used together, although the applicable test cycle was not stated in the release.

The Dream has a seven-seat cabin with second-row captain chairs, premium interior fittings and a strong focus on rear-passenger comfort. Its size, equipment and positioning place it above conventional family MPVs and closer to luxury people carriers.

Market study

Dongfeng Malaysia said the three vehicles represent different lifestyles but share a focus on technology, quality and electrification. Their appearance at KLIMS is still a market-evaluation exercise rather than confirmation that all three will be sold here.

The company is also expanding its Malaysian retail and service network. It is seeking additional dealer partners, including businesses interested in future opportunities with Voyah, while planning more showrooms and service centres in key regions.

Dongfeng said support for authorised dealers would cover showroom development, after-sales facilities, technical training and operational assistance. The network expansion will be needed should the company move ahead with these larger and more expensive electrified models.
