Seven electric cars can now be charged up at Aeon Rawang. The mall in northern Selangor is one of the latest public sites to get AC and DC chargers.

The installation, deployed by ChargEV across two locations within the shopping centre, includes both high-speed DC chargers and standard AC charging points to accommodate various charging needs.

At the rear entrance, the charge point operator has installed Malaysia’s first Alpitronic DC Hypercharger, a 240-kW unit featuring two CCS2 nozzles alongside two 22-kW AC charge points using Autel wallbox chargers. Alpitronic is an Italian company; Autel is Chinese.

The main entrance of the mall houses a 60-kW DC charger with two CCS2 nozzles and a single 22-kW AC charging point, providing shoppers with convenient access regardless of their entry point.

Main or front entrance has one 60kW DC charger and a 22kW AC charger plus spare AC charger.

Pricing varies by charger type. The 240-kW DC charger costs RM1.60 per kilowatt-hour, whilst the 60-kW DC unit is priced at RM1.40 per kilowatt-hour. AC charging remains the most economical option at RM1.00 per kilowatt-hour.

All charging stations can be activated through multiple platforms, including the chargEV, JomCharge and Gentari Go mobile applications, offering flexibility for users of different service providers.

ChargEV has installed two extra socket-only AC posts at either end of the complex; the operator has not disclosed the reason, though such pre-installs are typically used to enable rapid expansion when demand grows.

Rawang joins a growing list of Aeon shopping centres equipped with EV chargers.

Aeon Mall Seri Manjung in Perak has also recently received charging facilities, featuring two 240-kW DC bays priced at RM1.60 per kilowatt-hour and three 22-kW AC bays at RM1.00 per kilowatt-hour.
