TQ Wuling will use the “Keretapi Sarong 2025” event on Sept 13 as another platform to preview its locally assembled Bingo EV, positioning the model as an affordable entry point to electric motoring ahead of a Q4 2025 launch.
The annual event, which gathers thousands of Malaysians in sarongs and traditional attire for mass rides on the country’s electrically powered LRT and MRT networks, will provide the brand with a high-visibility platform.
This year’s Keretapi Sarong will begin at 10 train stations to be announced nearer the date.
TQ Wuling’s contingent will flag off at LRT Subang Jaya before proceeding to a secret final location where the Bingo EV will be displayed alongside on-ground activities.
The company said the car would “redefine entry-level electric mobility” for Malaysian buyers and would be priced below RM100,000 (assuming Perodua’s own EV doesn’t pipped it to the finishing line).
“Our involvement reflects our belief in mobility that connects, not only through technology and innovation, but also by embracing the country’s culture and spirit of togetherness,” said TQ Manufacturing Sdn Bhd business head Wan Wei Sun.
TQ Wuling said the Bingo EV focuses on design, practicality, safety and affordability.
It uses rounded, retro-influenced styling to appeal to youthful urban drivers while keeping the look modern.
A compact footprint is paired with a roomy cabin, useful convenience features and a versatile boot for city use.
Safety comes from an IP67-rated Magic battery that the brand said is already in more than two million EVs globally, with no reported fire or explosion incidents, and strong resistance to dust and water.
TQ Wuling also said the Bingo EV is affordably priced, with a sub-RM100,000 price target, fuel savings over combustion cars, reduced servicing needs and bundled charging and financing options.
