Sime Motors marks its 45th anniversary this year, saying the milestone caps nearly five decades of expansion in Malaysia’s automotive retail and aftersales space.
The company traces its local roots to 1980 and describes itself as Malaysia’s largest automotive retailer by market share.
Today, Sime Motors represents a wide spread of brands in Malaysia, spanning BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad, alongside BYD and Denza, plus Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo and Porsche. It also operates Auto Selection for used cars, Drivecare, and EV Next for used electric vehicles.
Sime Motors said its growth tracks the broader changes in the market, from a retail network built out in the 1980s and 1990s, through faster expansion in the 2000s and 2010s, to a sharper push on electric mobility in the 2020s.
A key recent addition is Sime Motors City in Ara Damansara, which the group said was Southeast Asia’s largest automotive complex.
Sime managing director Datuk Jeffri Salim Davidson said: “As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to unlocking new opportunities, particularly in electric mobility and to the wider Asia Pacific market.”
Anniversary activities include a 45th anniversary sales carnival from Sept 5 to 7 at Sime Motors City, a lucky draw led by a BMW 2 Series plus monthly giveaways through December 2025, an orchestra concert, and a 45-hour sales marathon in October.
